Moray Marathon Is Back!
An old favourite, the Moray Marathon, will return in spring 2024...
The Moray Marathon is, of course, not a new event for the Scottish race calendar, but it has been on something of a sabbatical since 2018 and so, it is with much excitement, that the race has been resurrected by new race organisers and will be jumping back onto the scene in spring 2023.
Set to take place on 21 April, the new incarnation of the popular marathon will be organised by Chilled Running. They say: "There’s now no need to worry about getting rejected for the 98th year in a row from London Marathon! We got you covered. We are so happy to be offering a local road marathon in the spring, that doesn’t require expensive and stressful travel, all your family and friends can come, and you can still use it to qualify for your dream marathons!"
The Moray Marathon will start and finish in Elgin, following the beautiful Moray Coastal towns and villages via Lossiemouth. The only road marathon in the North East of Scotland in the springtime, this is a fast course for those looking for qualifying times.
There will also be a 1K fun run held at the fields soon after the marathon has started which is open to any age and will be free to enter. The marathon itself will have chip timing, there will be prizes and a family friendly finishing area for those cheering you on.
Chilled Running told runABC: "We plan to put on easy to access, local, competitive, qualifying races for Moray, Highland and Aberdeenshire runners. We want to save runners costly travel for qualifying and fast races. Expanding on our first race, Moray Marathon, we are looking to put on events from 5K to Track Ultras! Watch this space!"
