Running a marathon means different things to different people. For the competitors, it's the culmination of months of dedicated preparation – or not, as the case may be! It's a chance to put that training to the ultimate test; to raise funds for a charity close to the heart; to face the challenge and earn the respect of family and friends.

However, for the Race Director, running a marathon means delivering a safe and successful event; overcoming logistical problems; dealing with endless queries with tact and patience, and managing a team of volunteers who help with a myriad of tasks.

One of the most visible volunteer roles, and one that gives the best view of the action, is that of Course Marshal and Andrew Hully, Race Director of the Milton Keynes Marathon Weekend, has sent out an appeal for more high viz heroes to step forward to ensure the smooth running of the Milton Keynes Marathon on the Early May Bank Holiday Monday 5th May 2025.

Milton Keynes Marathon, one of the most anticipated running events of the year, is calling for enthusiastic volunteers to join the team of Course Marshals. As a Course Marshal, you will be vital in ensuring the marathon runs smoothly and safely. Your support will help to create an unforgettable experience for runners and spectators. MK Marathon is looking for passionate volunteers who can lend a helping hand along the route, providing encouragement, directing runners, and maintaining the optimistic spirit of the event!
