Marcothon Returns For Its 17th Year

Are you ready to run every day this December?

The countdown is on for Marcothon 2025, the global running streak challenge that dares participants to run every single day in December - including Christmas Day itself! Now in its 17th year, the winter challenge continues to attract runners from all over the world who are determined to keep moving through the darkest days of the year.

The rules remain simple but uncompromising: run at least three miles or 25 minutes every day, whichever comes first. Miss a day, and you’re out. No walking, cycling or other substitutions - it’s pure running consistency that counts.

The Marcothon story began back in 2009, when Glasgow ultrarunner Marco Consani set himself a challenge to keep fit through winter. His wife Debbie, also an accomplished ultrarunner, joined in the following month and named the challenge Marcothon in his honour. What started as a personal experiment quickly became a phenomenon, inspiring thousands of runners to lace up each December.

Today, the Marcothon Facebook group has grown into a thriving online community of close to 10,000 members, offering motivation and moral support to those tackling the challenge one day at a time. And for 2025, participants can look the part with a brand-new range of official Marcothon merchandise, including t-shirts, buffs and hoodies - available at Summit Crazy.
