This Race Is Worth Tasting
Yorkshire's foodie race is back this September...
If you love filling your belly as much as you love running then this is the race for you! Inspired by the Marathon Du Medoc in France's wine region, the Marathon Du Malton (15 September) is a gourmet food and wineathlon that goes through an area of Yorkshire famous for its award-winning local produce and beautiful countryside.
Starting and finishing in Malton's pretty Market Place, the route takes in some stunning Yorkshire countryside including a section of the Howardian Hills (Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty), runners even get to run along Richard Fahey's famous Gallops where plenty of winning racehorses have been trained. In terms of terrain you can expect roads, footpaths, fields and forest paths.
The event includes three separate categories - a standard 10K (Le Sans Arret), a 10K fun run with food/drink stops (Le Classique) and a walking 10K with food/drink stops (L'escargot). The food stations along the route feature local producers from 'Yorkshire's Food Capital' - so expect some tasty offerings!
Organisers say: "Those taking part in the Le Classique are encouraged to take their time, pace themselves and enjoy the party atmosphere, food themed fancy dress is optional but encouraged!"
For family members not taking part in the 10K a Street Food Sunday event will take place in Malton at the same time with the start/finish line right alongside the pop-up picnic area. With a programme of live music, food, drink and fun aimed at spectators as much as racers - it will be a fantastic day out!
Much more than just a race, the Marathon Du Malton is an experience! If you'd like to know more, visit the Marathon du Malton website.
