Spring Into Marathon Mode
Make spring 2022 your marathon moment…
Running a marathon must be one of the most common personal challenges set by both runners and non-runners at the start of a new year. For some it's a bucket list accomplishment that needs to be ticked off, for others it's to raise money for a charity close to their heart. Whatever the reason, it's an achievement you can boast about for years to come and there's not much else that will make you feel as invincible as taking on those 26.2 miles!
The north of England is now holding its own in the marathon game and top of the bill, the Therme Manchester Marathon, will return in spring 2022. Now easily the UK’s second largest marathon, attracting around 30,000 runners, the next edition on Sunday 3 April is filling up fast.
With London moving to the autumn, demand is higher than ever for Manchester. Adding to this is the recent announcement that the 2022 event will also be hosting the Commonwealth Games qualifiers, meaning a strong elite field and plenty of drama.
If you’ve never run the event before you can expect a largely flat route, perfect for beginners, or for hitting a PB, a course that is known for its incredible atmosphere, now featuring the city centre and best in class t-shirt and medal!
Like many major marathons you can choose a standard entry, or to run for one of the official charities. Taking the latter option gives you the chance to support an amazing cause, and in return you’ll receive a heavily reduced entry fee and support during your challenge.
