Black Country Mile 2022

Full throttle required at the Black Country Magic Mile

Children as well as adults are invited to run for glory.

If, like Top Gun’s ‘Maverick’ you “feel the need for speed” then where better to do so than at the Black Country Magic Mile on Friday 5 August. Test yourself against others at the Dell Stadium with age category prizes up for grabs.

The Dell Stadium at Brierley Hill, Dudley in the West Midlands is the venue for the Black Country Magic Mile. It is organised by Mark Judge with Joseph Ash the main sponsor and prizes sponsored by Mac Physiotherapy. The 400m synthetic athletics track will resonate to the sound of flying feet as runners of all ages aim to complete their fastest mile.

This event consists of several races and participants are asked for their mile or 5K PB where they will be seeded into one of these against others of a similar ability. There is a briefing at 6pm followed by the races held every 15 minutes from 6.15pm to 8.15pm then the results and presentation at 8.30pm.

A range of start times means people are able to get there after they finish work (or school), do a warm up then blast around the track.

There are prizes for the following age categories: Senior Male and Female (Under 35); Male and Female V35-44; Male and Female V44+

Youngsters are encouraged to enter and whether they run on their own or with an adult, will be clapped and cheered for their efforts. The Over 13’s are included in the age group prizes whilst the Under 13’s receive a medal.

Mark Judge is keen for everyone irrespective of age or experience to give it a go saying: “Whilst the idea is to try and win your race, it’s also about bringing runners together on one evening to be the best they can be.”

Have you ever wondered how quick you are over a mile? Here is your chance to find out...
