MacTuff Makes A Date With May
Up for a challenge this year? We've just the event for you...
Scotland's toughest obstacle course challenge which was born in the depths of Scottish winter now has a summer event! MacTuff's physically and mentally demanding challenge has been on the go since 2016, with a traditional winter date but new for 2023 there will be May race date too. Is early May actually summer though some may ask? Organisers have this to say: "May 7 is the closest to summer you are going to get for MacTuff!"
MacTuff challenges all-comers to its ancestral base at Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife where organisers utilise the terrain and natural water features combined with traditional OCR obstacles to create a memorable event. Those signing up to this seriously fun challenge can choose to take part in the 7K event which is ideal for people new to obstacle course challenges or the more experienced can opt to tackle the brutal 15K or 21K distances.
There are more choices available too, as runners can choose to participate in survival mode (not competitive and for those looking to get around the course and 'enjoy' it) or competitive mode (which does what it says on the tin so to speak!).
Setting the scene for an epic experience, runners will be a part of an iconic mass start with Dunfermline pipers rallying everyone before they set off in a haze of smoke and fireworks. Speaking about their event, a spokesperson from MacTuff commented: "Be part of the legend that is MacTuff and tick this off your bucket list. Sign up and regret it instantly!"
Make a weekend of it, as there is free camping available for all participants and their family members between 4 and 8 May. And if you like to know what you get for your entry fee then take note that all participants receive a bespoke medal, technical t-shirt and free event photo downloads.
