Limassol Marathon promises the perfect pace

Cyprus is now a regular spring destination for British runners with the growing popularity of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. The event scheduled for Saturday and Sunday 24/25 March in 2019 includes a full programme of marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k which encourages group and family parties.

After a successful event earlier this year, organisers have announced that they will be enhancing their pacing team to ensure all marathon and half marathons participants have a smooth supported run and maximise their chances of a PB.

Experienced pacer Paul Addicott, who manages his own blog pickupthepacepaul.com and regularly paces at races worldwide, will once again be leading the pacing team in Limassol and pacing the sub 4-hour group himself.

Paul is an established pacer at the Virgin Money London Marathon and in 2018 alone he has paced the BMW Berlin Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Simplyhealth Great North Run, Royal Parks Half Marathon, Shrewsbury Half Marathon and many more.

Paul has helped hundreds of runners to cross the finish line with a smile on their face, having achieved their expected time and benefited from his experience and race knowledge.

2019 will be Paul’s third time in Limassol, having earned his first medal at the 2017 event. Rating the event as one of his all-time favourite races, Paul is looking forward to helping runners achieve their own PBs – which is common-place on Limassol’s flat and fast course – while making the most of the climate and scenery to enjoy a mini-break away with his family.

The pacing team includes some friendly faces from 2018, with Phil and Emma returning to pace the half marathon and Beppe and Matt the full marathon. There are also new pacers for 2019 including Camilla and Jacqueline, who hold the world record for being the first mother and daughter to run 100 marathons together. Together the pacers will form a first-class ‘Pick up the Pace’ team and play a key role in helping other runners achieve their goals at OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO.

The confirmation of pacers is expected to be a great incentive both to new runners taking on their first race as well as serious runners aiming for a PB at OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. A 20% discount on all competitive races until the end of November makes now the perfect time to register to #RunLimassol and have a superb race to look forward to at the end of the winter.

Paul Addicott commented, “I am delighted to be returning to Limassol in 2019. I am proud to have an incredible team of pacers who will be supporting runners the whole way round, helping them to achieve their goals and providing the very best race experience. Limassol is one of my favourite places to run, with a spectacular course, magnificent views and an incredible atmosphere, and I can’t wait to be back leading the sub-4 #funbus!”

The 2019 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO takes place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March. Early Bird fees with 20% off are available until 30 November, as follows: Marathon €48, Half Marathon €36, 10K €24, 5K €24.
