Start Of The Nomad Ultra

Let’s Start The Summer Of Run

Thousands of people celebrated the summer solstice on the longest day of the year yesterday (21 June). While it’s officially the start of the barbecue/Wimbledon/festival season, the race calendar is in full swing as this weekend (23-24 June) shows.

The summer madness begins at the NoMad Ultra organised by Long Eaton Running Club. Choose from a 50 mile, 50K or Team Relay on a multi-terrain route around Derbyshire. The organisers have provided maps, written instructions and a downloadable GPX file; however basic navigation skills are required as the route is only partially marked.

Put your best foot forward in Bedfordshire and help fund various causes in the area. The Silsoe Stride 5K, 10K and Children’s Fun Run takes place this Sunday and is held within the scenic grounds of Wrest Park. The course is gently undulating making it suitable for all abilities and this annual event is known for its friendly atmosphere.

It is almost time for the CPM Thame 10K, a popular and long established road race which is also hosting the Oxfordshire AA 10K Championships. It starts at 9.30am with runners following a flat course around historic Thame and along the Phoenix Trail. Definitely a race for those chasing a PB!

We finish with a sprint at the Tamworth Gate Gallop, an off-road 10K organised by Peel Road Runners which has been in existence for over 25 years. During that time it has raised £100,000 for St Giles Hospice and that support continues. There is also a 4.4K Fun Run and a Children’s Run.
