Racing through Cannock Chase

Final call for Forest Runner Cannock Chase

Sign up before the midnight deadline.

If you want to join in at Forest Runner 5K & 10K at Cannock Chase then don’t delay as entries close at midnight today (Wednesday 3 November). Be part of an event on Sunday 14 November which showcases the autumn delights of Cannock Chase and receive a medal and goody bag in return.

Cannock Chase is one of several locations hosting these 5K and 10K runs organised by Forestry England in partnership with Events of the North. They are open to new and experienced runners with a minimum age of 12 for the 5K and a minimum age of 16 for the 10K and chip timed, signed and marshalled.

The courses consist of mostly forest tracks with unsurfaced trails, paths and off-road sections. There will be some tricky terrain including loose stones and puddles and if we have downpours, mud will be on the agenda!

Both routes are in beautiful surroundings that take runners into Fairoak Valley, past pine and larch trees and an area of wet woodland habitat. Cannock Chase is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) due to the woodland and wildlife species and the way-marked trails are equally attractive. Trees and nature in general is recommended for mental wellbeing and one of many benefits from being outside is enjoying the fresh air and exercise.

There are solid oak trophies for the 1st, 2nd and third male and female and a wooden medal for every finisher along with a Forest Runner neck tube and goody bag.

More information about the event can be found on the Forest Runner FAQs page.
