Ken Bingley Memorial Race 2026

Run In Memory At The Ken Bingley Memorial Race

A race to remember and celebrate...

This relates to: Ken Bingley Memorial 10K

The Ken Bingley Memorial Race returns to Frickley Country Park near South Elmsall on Sunday 16 August 2026, bringing runners together for a special event that celebrates the life of a respected local running figure while supporting two important charities.

Organised by Ackworth Road Runners, the race honours Ken Bingley, who enjoyed a long and successful running career with Wakefield Harriers and later Ackworth Road Runners. Well known across the Yorkshire race circuit and at Pontefract parkrun, Ken inspired countless runners through both his performances and his willingness to support others. A regular London Marathon participant, he set numerous club age category records and was widely regarded as a true gentleman of the sport.

The event is designed not only as a tribute to Ken but also as an opportunity for runners to remember and celebrate friends, family members and fellow runners who are no longer with us. Organisers encourage participants to use the race as a personal memorial and celebration, creating an atmosphere that goes beyond competition and finishing times.

The 10K course follows a single lap route through Frickley Country Park, combining a variety of trails within and beyond the park boundaries. The undulating multi terrain course includes the well known Zig Zag Hill and offers a rewarding challenge in one of West Yorkshire's most popular outdoor spaces.

Every participant will receive a commemorative memento, while trophies will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers. As a charity focused event, all profits will be shared equally between the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Yorkshire Air Ambulance, giving runners the opportunity to support two worthy causes while taking part in a memorable community occasion.

Combining trail running, remembrance and fundraising, the Ken Bingley Memorial Race offers a meaningful way to celebrate lives, support charity and enjoy a welcoming day of running in the Yorkshire countryside.
