New Trail Races For The Borders
Floors Castle is the spectacular setting for these new autumn trail races...
The inaugural Floors Castle Trail Race is all set with an autumn date of 29 September. Those taking part can choose between the 10K and 5K distances on this undulating but fast course on hard packed gravel trails which culminates in a welcoming and lively atmosphere at the finish line fit for a King or Queen.
Organisers say: "Prepare to push your limits through ancient woodlands, and panoramic vistas, all set against the majestic backdrop of Floors Castle, in the Scottish Borders, the largest inhabited castle in Scotland."
The 10K race takes place over two laps of the 5K course, exploring the best of the Floors Castle estate. The lapped course provides a great challenge along with being a very spectator friendly event allowing supporters to cheer at multiple points.
The 5K will see runners experiencing all the best parts of these stunning grounds while pushing hard knowing the finish line is never far out of reach.
For the young trailblazers there will be a Junior 3K race, where budding athletes can unleash their spirit of adventure and discover the joy of trail running in a safe and supportive environment. It's the perfect opportunity for kids to lace up their shoes, hit the trails, and create memories that will last a lifetime. The shortened 3K loop circumnavigates the castle, starting with a fast, flowing descent followed by a short, but challenging climb in the second half culminating in a final sprint to a finish line that won't be forgotten in a hurry.
Whether you're a seasoned athlete seeking a new challenge or a beginner looking to embrace the thrill of trail running, this new event really does cater to all levels of fitness and experience.
And if you fancy dipping your toe into the world of multisport then you'll be interested to hear that the trail races will take place alongside the Floors Castle Duathlon on the same day.
