The Hoby Hop is a five mile cross country trail race through the countryside of the Upper Wreake Valley in Leicestershire. Based at Hoby & District Village Hall, the route heads out across the surrounding rural landscape, following traditional footpaths through fields and open countryside with wide reaching views across the county.
Runners can expect a varied off road course featuring stiles, brooks, field crossings and undulating sections that give the race plenty of character. The mixture of natural terrain and short climbs provides a different challenge from a conventional road race, with conditions underfoot adding to the cross country experience and making the route an engaging test over five miles.
A separate canicross race takes place over the same five mile distance, starting ahead of the main trail race. The Hoby Hop welcomes both competitive runners and those looking for an enjoyable countryside challenge, with its compact distance, traditional cross country features and rural setting creating a distinctive local running event.
