Harrogate's 10K Set To Return
Make a date with Harrogate this July...
It's always a pleasure to visit Harrogate, Yorkshire's pretty Victorian spa town. But it's even better to tie in a visit with a race, and that's exactly what you can do this summer at the Run Harrogate 10K.
This is a multi-terrain race set in the beautiful Crimple Valley area of Harrogate, it follows an undulating route that is approximately 70% tarmac road, with the rest on good footpaths. The course has been specifically designed to be suitable for all levels of runner and organisers stress that: "It will appeal to those contemplating their first race, but also to seasoned club runners who are looking for a challenge."
2022 saw the inaugural staging of a kids fun run on the same day, and it will return this year. Organisers commented: "After the success of the inaugural event, the 10K race will again be preceded by a Fun Run for those in school years 2-9. This will be entry on the day only and all participants will receive a 'goody bag', including a medal!"
Speaking about the 'main event' the spokesperson told runABC: "Some runners don't like hills. We love them! That's why we finish the race with the Crimple Killer. But don't worry, we'll have a Hill Helper to give you all the encouragement you need to reach your goal."
All 10K finishers will receive a 'goody bag', including a commemorative medal. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third ladies and men. The Corporate Team Prize will be contested again: as well as securing the bragging rights, the winning team will choose which charity receives the sponsor's donation.
In 2022 Cal Mills of Leeds City AC won the race in a time of 33:13 while Emily Gibbins of Ilkley Harriers took the women's title in 38:15.
