First held in 1987, the Haltemprice 10K is one of East Yorkshire’s longest-established road races and takes runners on a scenic closed-road course through Kirk Ella, West Ella and Swanland.
Starting and finishing on South Ella Way in Kirk Ella, the route initially climbs gradually through West Ella before completing an undulating loop around Swanland. Runners are then rewarded with a predominantly downhill return towards the finish.
The combination of quiet roads, attractive villages and changing elevation gives the race plenty of character while remaining accessible to runners of different abilities. The event has a 90-minute cut-off because of the road closures.
Race headquarters are at Haltemprice Leisure Centre in Anlaby, around a ten-minute walk from the start area. The race is chip timed, with kilometre markers and marshals around the course, and finishers receive the event’s traditional mug.
