Brum Is Back!
Get ready for this year's big Midlands running occasion...
The Midlands’ biggest and best running event, the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run, will return to the city on Sunday 5 May 2024! Adding to Birmimgham's strong legacy of sport including the Commonwealth Games and the UK Athletics Indoor Championships – this is your chance to lace up your trainers and be part of something special with thousands of other dedicated runners.
Back in the heart of Birmingham city centre, the 10K and half marathon routes are jam-packed full of iconic landmarks. Starting in Centenary Square, runners will pass some of the city’s most iconic landmarks including the world-famous Jewellery Quarter, Chamberlain Clock, beautiful St Paul’s Square, and highlights such as the Mailbox and Grand Central.
Half marathon participants will also take in a glorious return route past Cannon Hill Park and Edgbaston Stadium, before the 10K and half marathon routes combine for a grandstand finish in Smithfield.
From the start line excitement to the rocking on-course music zones, and an event village that feels more like an after party – the unbeatable atmosphere and local support is uniquely Birmingham. Organisers are also excited to announce the return of the runners’ Après Zone, an area for you and your loved ones to sit and relax with plenty of local food and drink vendors to choose from!
It’s not all about the adults though, the popular Junior (ages 9-15) and Mini (ages 3-8) events give kids the chance to take centre stage. Taking place on the same day, and at the legacy site of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, this is high-energy fun from beginning to end with crazy costumes, high-fives, roaring crowd support and special medals for the finishers.
Whether you’re just beginning your running journey, or conquering your 50th half marathon, this is a run for everyone, of all ages and abilities. So, if your motivation is to hit a fitness goal, to do something incredible for charity, to hear thousands of strangers cheering you on, or simply for fun, take your place on the start line and experience it all for yourself.
