Glencoe Gears Up For Autumn Gathering
Fancy a Highland Gathering with a difference?
This September you can take part in a Highland Gathering with a difference, forget bagpipes, scottish reels and Americans visiting in search of ancestors, this gathering is altogether more 'challenging'. Indeed, the Glencoe Marathon Gathering is a trail running adventure that follows an ancient route through the mountains from the foot of Ben Nevis to iconic Glencoe.
Taking place on 4 September and consisting of a choice of three routes, whichever route you pick you’ll be rewarded at every turn with some of the most stunning and dramatic views in the Scottish Highlands. As organisers say: "Don’t settle for an average pavement-pounding marathon this year but head to the hills."
This dramatic event is not your average marathon, half marathon or 10K, so take the chance and escape to the wilds and test yourself to the limit. Have a blast of mountain air and be rewarded at every turn with spectacular panoramic views of possibly the most dramatic landscape in the Scottish Highlands. Both the marathon and half marathon routes will see you conquer the Devil's Staircase!
If you love the sound of the event, but a half marathon is just a step too far, the Ronald McDonald House 10K is the perfect solution - an off-road circular route with stunning views of lochs, glens and mountains. You'll be doing something good for yourself by taking part, but also for families with a child seriously ill in hospital.
Race organiser, WildFox Events are passionate about raising money for charities that help others both in the UK and beyond and along with Ronald McDonald House Glasgow they will also be supporting Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cure Parkinson’s. A spokesperson for WildFox said: "If you want to make your day matter even more please consider fundraising."
