Three Hundred Runners And Whatever The Glen Throws At Them
All 300 places have gone for the Glen Clova Half Marathon on 21 November, where November weather is every bit as unpredictable as the undulating course...
This relates to: Glen Clova Half Marathon
Sunshine, sideways rain, ice or snow. Glen Clova Half Marathon organisers make no promises about what November might deliver – except 13.1 miles around one of Angus's most impressive glens.
Whatever the forecast, runners clearly want in. EntryCentral has now closed entries for the 2026 race, which has a strict limit of just 300 places and is filled on a first come, first served basis. Forfar Road Runners describes it as a race that usually sells out fast.
Those 300 runners will gather at the Glen Clova Hotel for a rather civilised 12 noon start on Saturday 21 November. From there, the accurately measured road course follows an anticlockwise loop around the glen.
The organiser describes the route as picturesque and undulating, and its relatively small field is part of the character of an event staged in a location where even parking is limited. Runners are encouraged to car share and must contend with open roads during the race.
This is an old-school club half marathon in other ways too. There are prizes for the major categories and club teams, three water stations, a memento for every finisher and even free pre and post-race massage.
Perhaps the most appealing detail comes after 13.1 November miles around Glen Clova. Soup will be waiting for runners back at the hotel.
The weather could provide sunshine, sideways rain, ice or snow. The one thing now guaranteed is that all 300 available places have been spoken for.
