Get Ready For The 5th Swansea Half Marathon
The JCP Swansea Half Marathon celebrates its fifth birthday this year and there is plenty to look forward to at this anniversary special. Expect sun (hopefully), sea and PBs on Sunday 24 June.
This multi-award winning race is part of a group of four from Front Runner Events Ltd, sitting alongside Llanelli Half Marathon, Great Welsh Marathon and Half Marathon. They are held in stunning locations around the coastline of Wales and attract a high volume of entries.
Entry to this race means a flat, PB-potential course, water and gel stations, pacers, entertainment en route, cheer zones and plenty of support from marshals and spectators. It takes place on closed roads starting from the city centre and includes an attractive, six-mile section along Swansea Bay. The event is also wheelchair friendly.
The implementation of a city wide development programme has presented the organisers with an opportunity to review the existing route and consider switching to a new and improved version to mark the occasion.
The reason behind the possible change is summed up by race director David Martin-Jewell who says: “As the race grows, the route must be able to cope with the demand on the road, space at the start/finish areas and the safety of all the participants.”
There are four months to go to the big day. Register now at the JCP Swansea Half Marathon website.
