Evening of run and sun at the Gato Sports Summer 10K Series
Three midweek races held throughout June and July.
What could be nicer than finishing work, running a 10K on a woodland course in glorious sunshine followed by a post-race drink or ice cream? This was the state of affairs at Race 1 in the Gato Sports Summer 10K series from Big Bear Events that has left runners wanting more.
The Gato Sports Summer 10K is a series of three races starting at 7pm from Ryton Pools Country Park near Coventry, Warwickshire. Designed as ‘downtime’ after a hard days graft, they are friendly, accessible races for every runner and organised to the same high standard as the rest of Big Bear Events. There is an added incentive in the shape of prizes for the male and female winners donated by event partners Gato Sports.
Three races equals a three part medal that has a warm, summery feel and likely to be much sought after. Enter all three 10K’s and receive this interlocking bling along with a drink and flapjack and with any luck, a tan if the weather is hot and sunny. Entrants can opt out of these and instead, have a tree planted in their name by Trees Not Tees.
Last night (Monday 6 June) runners swapped their work shoes for trainers and completed two laps on an undulating course consisting of crushed stone pathways around Ryton Pools. The area was wide enough for social distancing and safe overtaking and there was more than enough encouragement to go around.
Race 2 is on Wednesday 30 June followed by Race 3 on Wednesday 21 July - both at Ryton Pools Country Park.
