Wunderbar In Berlin

Eilish McColgan has done it again! The super Scot ran the race of her life in Sunday's Berlin Half Marathon and claimed victory while breaking her own British record into the bargain! 32-year-old Eilish crossed the finish line in 65:43, beating her previous best of 66:26 and her victory sees her become the first British woman to win at the iconic German event.
Eilish was joined on the podium by Ethiopia’s Tsigie Gebreselama in second place and her compatriot Yalemget Yaregal in third. The men's race was dominated by Kenyan athletes with Sabastian Sawe winning the race in 59:01, Alex Kibet in second place and Bravin Kiprop claiming third.
Commenting on her Facebook account after the race she said: "A win, PB and new British Record! How insane is this finish line? Cold and windy morning in Berlin, but delighted to be the first British woman to win the Berlin Half Marathon!
"I felt my hamstring tighten badly around 1K to go. Fingers crossed it's just cramp, but thanks for all the lovely messages."
Eilish is working towards her marathon debut on 23 April at the TCS London Marathon and her win at Berlin takes her to fourth on the European all-time list. In March, McColgan set a British Record for 10,000m on the track in California – beating Paula Radcliffe‘s time, but she has had a couple of injury issues to deal with recently and missed the New York Half Marathon as a result.
