The Durham Coastal Half Marathon is a challenging trail race organised by Trail Outlaws, following one of the most spectacular sections of the Durham Coastal Path. Starting and finishing at Nose's Point in Seaham, the event showcases dramatic coastline, ancient woodland and some of County Durham's finest trail running.
The entirely off road route follows cliff top paths, woodland trails and rugged coastal tracks, descending into and climbing out of a series of steep denes before passing through the beautiful Hawthorn Dene Nature Reserve. With approximately 320 steps, varied terrain and stunning sea views throughout, the course provides a rewarding challenge for experienced trail runners while remaining accessible to those looking to test themselves on a classic coastal route.
With fully marked and marshalled trails, well organised support, bespoke finisher's medals and prizes across multiple categories, the Durham Coastal Half Marathon delivers an outstanding trail running experience. Its combination of challenging terrain, breathtaking scenery and friendly atmosphere has made it one of the North East's most popular trail half marathons.
