The Power of 12
There are 12 great reasons to run this May's Dunblane Road Race...
Experience the exciting atmosphere of the Dunblane Road Race which really is a celebration of the town's love of running. This year scheduled for 28 May, the 12K event also includes a 2K Youth Race and is popular with runners looking for a family-focussed day of fitness.
Organisers explain: "In Dunblane, we are passionate about sport and we are keen to get as many adults and young people as possible to take part in our races. Therefore, if you have children aged nine to 15 bring them along and get them involved. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get your kids enthusiastic about sport and encourages them to stay active."
The start and finish lines for the adult race are now in the heart of Dunblane High Street from which runners will enjoy the scenic route of the 12K course. The route takes them past some of Dunblane’s most iconic landmarks including the golden post box, Dunblane Hydro, through the beautiful village of Kinbuck, past Andy Murray’s exclusive Cromlix House Hotel as well as the picturesque views along the Auchenlay Road.
Organisers say: "The route is generally flat(ish), with some undulation and a short hill at around 4 miles. It is mostly on country roads. Bear in mind it is not a closed road race and some traffic will be encountered.
Our friendly, challenging event is suitable for all running abilities, so if you’re ready for your next challenge now’s the time to sign up!"
In 2022, the race was won by Ochil Hill Runner, Fergus Roberts in a time of 38:07 while the women's first place title was claimed by Jennifer Wetton of Central AC in 43:37.
