Ultras For All In Sherwood

Sherwood Forest is the scenic location for these inclusive ultra races...

Channel your inner Robin Hood and head to Nottinghamshire for the Dukeries 30 & 40 Mile races which are set in the heart of Sherwood Forest and take in some of the most beautiful and undiscovered sandstone villages and historic sites in England.

Taking place on 4 May, both the 30 and 40 mile races keep mostly to forest trails and footpaths with the routes passing charming lodges, through Cresswell Crags and skirt the Welbeck Estate.

Runners cross Clumber Park through peaceful farmland before looping back to pass by the Thoresby Estate and returning to finish at Sherwood Forest. Those taking part in the 40 miler will pass The Major Oak!

Organisers, HOBO Pace offer trail running events, ranging from 10 to 100 miles in or around the Nottinghamshire region which are competitive, friendly and inclusive races for all abilities. Of this event they say: "The Dukeries lap without doubt offers some of Nottinghamshire’s most famous, finest and picturesque trails.

"The circular loops make the events ideal for those fairly new to running trails. But equally they are also ideal for experienced runners seeking a trail ultra PB! Clear marking will be in place throughout so you can enjoy the race with the vastly reduced risk of going off trail."

They add: "Due to spiralling costs we are unfortunately no longer able to include the race t-shirt in the entry fee. You can choose to purchase a t-shirt in addition to the entry if you wish or even choose to plant a tree instead."
