Down By The River Runs Fast
A flat and fast 10K would make for a great start to your 2024 running season...
Get your season off to a fantastic start with a fast 10K race, what could be better than a spring time PB to set you up for the year ahead? The Down by the River Races 10K & 3K takes place on 10 March and provides runners with just such a possibility thanks to its flat course.
Organised by the Cambuslang Harriers, the 10K follows the Clyde Walkway towards Glasgow (within a stone’s throw of the Emirates Arena) and back, on a path that is shared with walkers and cyclists. The path is a mix of tarmac and gravel and so may be muddy in places - but organisers promise it is as 'flat as the proverbial pancake'.
A spokesperson from the Harriers added: "If you're looking to support a local club, race for a PB or complete your first 10K, this is the race for you."
Participants should note that the race start and finish are both a ‘gentle 1.5 mile warm-up/warm down’ away from registration at the Cambuslang Rugby and Sports Club, and make their plans accordingly.
Runners of all standards over the age of 17 are welcome to take part in the Down by the River 10K. Runners under the age of 17 can take part in the Down by the River 3K.
Close to 250 runners took part in the 2023 10K race with Cambuslang Harrier Stewart Fraser taking the top spot in 30:17. It was Viora Elisa - a Torino Road Runner who took the win in the women's race in a time of 39:26.
