The Doonhamer 10K is a certified road race organised by Dumfries Harriers, starting and finishing in Dock Park beside the River Nith. The route showcases some of Dumfries' best known riverside paths and bridges, creating a fast and scenic 10K through the heart of the town.
Starting at Dockfoot, the officially measured course follows paths alongside the River Nith before crossing the Buccleuch Street, Suspension and Kirkpatrick MacMillan bridges. The race is run mainly on footpaths and pavements, with a short section on public road at Kingholm Quay, and is fully marshalled under UK Athletics rules with chip timing, kilometre markers and an on course water station.
The Doonhamer 10K is popular with runners targeting a well organised late summer road race on an accurately measured course. Its riverside setting, multiple bridge crossings and welcoming atmosphere make it an enjoyable event for runners aiming to race, achieve a personal best or simply experience one of Dumfries' best known running events.
