No More Runners At The Doncaster Races

Doncaster City 10K organisers wondered whether they could squeeze any more runners into their race this year. The answer, for now at least, is no.

All 3,500 places for the 2026 race have now gone, with the event officially declared full on 3 October – eight weeks before runners line up at Doncaster Racecourse on Sunday 29 November.

It is becoming something of a habit. The 2025 race also reached its 3,500 capacity months in advance and left more than 800 runners on the waiting list. Organisers opened entries for 2026 early to give those who missed out another opportunity, but demand has once again filled every available place.

This will be the ninth Doncaster City 10K, following an inaugural race in 2017. The road course starts and finishes at Doncaster Racecourse, taking runners out through the city before bringing them back for a grandstand finish.

There is an extra nod to the venue's history this year. Doncaster has just celebrated the 250th running of the St Leger Stakes, the world's oldest Classic, and the 2026 race medal marks that anniversary.

Last year's 10K produced some close racing too. Daniel James won in 31:25, only three seconds ahead of Adam Theaker, while Georgina Weston was the first woman home in 36:30.

The organisers say the event is now at its limit and will review whether anything about the course can be adapted to accommodate more runners in future – but only if it doesn't compromise the event.

For 2026, the starting stalls are full.
