Devil O' The Highlands Footrace

Devil o' the Highlands Footrace is a 42 mile point-to-point ultramarathon following the northern section of the West Highland Way from Tyndrum to Fort William. Organised by John Duncan and his race team, the event takes runners through some of Scotland's most dramatic Highland landscapes on a demanding long distance trail course.

Starting in Tyndrum, the route heads north through Bridge of Orchy and across Rannoch Moor towards Glencoe before tackling the steep ascent of the Devil's Staircase. Runners descend towards Kinlochleven and continue across the remote Lairig Mòr towards Lundavra, with a final descent into Fort William. Approximately 95% of the course is off-road, combining rocky trails, old drove roads and mountain paths, with around 1,981 metres of ascent.

Four checkpoints provide water and support, with food drop bags available at Glencoe and Kinlochleven. The route is waymarked, with mandatory safety equipment required and intermediate cut-off times enforced. Finishers receive a commemorative medal, with hot food, showers and official race photography available at Fort William.
