Coventry calling for November Festival of Running

Coventry Festival of Running set to open for business

Coventry Festival of Running 2020 has been given a second chance and is gearing up for the proposed date of Sunday 1 November. The organisers are working hard to ensure the event is safe and enjoyable and are exploring a range of options which include staggered starts, social distancing etc. There is plenty of time to prepare for this event as lockdown continues to ease and things start to return to normal.

Coventry is the City of Culture 2021 and large scale celebrations are planned throughout next year, giving its citizens something to look forward to after this year’s crisis. The Festival of Running is another way to showcase the city and its history and the organisers invite people to take part on 1 November and experience Coventry's sights and sounds.

Coventry Festival of Running includes a Half Marathon, 5K and a Wheelchair 2.5K – the rescheduled date for the Children’s Mile has yet to be confirmed - and the highlight of the day is a big city finish in front of the beautiful Coventry Cathedral. Many runners enter on behalf of a chosen charity or support the event’s official charities. This year’s charity partners include Myton Hospice, Penny Appeal, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire and Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.

The organisers will provide updates over the coming months and are following advice from the government and others as they prepare for November. They are confident the event will go ahead and view it as a step on the road to recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
