Cool Cram Launches Worcester City Run
Sporting legend Steve Cram was in a chilled mood at the launch of the Worcester City Run after experiencing a cryotherapy session courtesy of new event partner Air Products.
Steve, founder of the event, underwent a recovery treatment in Air Products, state of the art PolarFit® Care cryotherapy chamber. This treatment uses extreme cold to decrease inflammation and ease muscle soreness while increasing recovery time between training sessions. Used by elite athletes and sports teams it delivers a range of benefits that improve fitness and wellbeing.
Steve Cram had experienced cold temperatures when commentating for the BBC at the Winter Olympics although in his words: “This was a bit different. Cryotherapy is a fascinating subject and definitely an area I want to learn more about.”
Air Products is an industrial gases company based in Worcester that has been in business for 60 years. To commemorate this, they are encouraging their employees to volunteer for a minimum of 60 minutes with many of them choosing to do this at this year’s Worcester City Run.
The Worcester City Run includes a 10K and Half Marathon, and a Young Athletes Run for under 11s and under 16s. A joint venture between Events of the North and Worcester City Council it aims to be bigger and better than before. In the words of Deputy Mayor Cllr Jabba Riaz: “it has quickly become one of the most popular annual events in the area and I have no doubt it will be the best we’ve hosted so far.”
