The Combe Crawler is a challenging cross country race organised by Ilfracombe Running Club in North Devon. Known for its steep climbs and dramatic coastal scenery, the event takes runners through a demanding combination of countryside trails, woodland and open fields.
The 8.5 mile course features approximately 543 metres of ascent, with steep coastal paths, uneven woodland tracks and exposed sections across the surrounding hills. The varied terrain and sustained climbs provide a tough test of endurance, with sweeping views across the North Devon coastline along the way. Runners should be prepared for challenging underfoot conditions and a two and a half hour course limit.
Starting and finishing at Ilfracombe Football Club, the race is fully marshalled and chip timed. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, with prizes awarded to the leading runners and age category winners. Places are limited to 200 participants, and proceeds support charitable causes.
