Coastbuster medal 2025

Coastbusters Calling Gut Busters!

The 'Coasties' invite you to join their scenic seaside races...

Government Acre is a large green open space on the cliff top at Ramsgate in Kent, used for various events. The elevated setting provides fabulous coastal views, and this is the venue for the Coastbuster 10 miler and 10K races on Sunday, 16 November 2025.

The races are promoted by Coastal Striders Running Club, whose members enjoy training in the Thanet area, with most runs starting out from The Boating Pool, Ramsgate. The 'Coasties' operate a free membership and training runs are also free to registered members so the modest income derived from hosting these events is crucial to the running of the club.

Nice Work Race Management informs runABC South that limited entries are still available. If you fancy an enjoyable race with fantastic seaside scenery, from Government Acre, through Ramsgate and King George VI Memorial Park, on to Broadstairs and back – click here to enter.

Last year's 10-miler was won by Alex Dugard (Thanet Roadrunners) in 59:11. Siobhan Burne (Beckenham Running Club, 1:08:14) took the honours in the women's race. There were 191 finishers in just over two hours, with 85 of those under 90 minutes.

The 10K was slightly more popular, with 203 finishing in 1:36:25. Thanet Roadrunners provided the winners with under-20 junior Oliver Regan (36:54) and tenth-placed Asmaa Hatim (44:24). Over 30 runners beat 50 minutes, and the hour was up as the 90th runner finished.

The brilliant medal (above) features one of Ramsgate's famous attractions. Ramsgate Tunnels are the UK's largest network of civilian wartime tunnels used as Ramsgate residents' air raid shelters during World War 2. The 150-year-old Victorian Railway Tunnel and purpose-built air raid precaution tunnels opened on 1 June 1939 and became an underground city with over 1,000 permanent residents. Also in the medal design is a cheeky chip thief!

Plenty of runners have given this event the thumbs up, like previous competitor #550 below.
