The Coal Aston Gala Chase is organised by Dronfield Running Club and takes place as part of the annual Coal Aston Summer Gala in Derbyshire. The event offers an achievable yet rewarding trail race for runners aged 16 and over, with a welcoming community atmosphere and a family fun run completing the day's programme.
The 4.7 mile course follows public rights of way through the scenic Moss Valley on a mixture of farmland, woodland trails and natural paths. The undulating route includes around 600 feet of climbing and a small ford crossing, creating an engaging off road challenge with varied terrain and picturesque surroundings.
The event is fully marshalled and held under UK Athletics rules with a TRA licence. Finishers receive a goody bag and complimentary cake, while prizes are awarded across senior and veteran categories. The finish at the Coal Aston Summer Gala creates a lively atmosphere, with refreshments, entertainment and family activities throughout the day.
