The Big Dipper Half Marathon rolls out on Sunday 11 September and runners are in for a wild and wonderful ride. They can expect 510m of climb and stunning views at this new race followed by a sense of pride in their achievement. 

Roll up...and roll down. This is what runners will be doing at The Big Dipper Half Marathon from Dronfield RC as they hold tight on a course which starts in Derbyshire, continues into the Peak District before finishing back in Derbyshire. Being a September race means autumn colours will be coming through in areas such as Shillito Woods and you can expect a feast for the eyes.

Staves Estate Agents of Dronfield is the title sponsor. The event is timed, on closed roads with water stations en route. There will be plenty of marshals to offer words of encouragement when the going gets tough and photographers to capture the pain and glory. 

The prizes for the top three men and women are £200 for 1st, £100 for 2nd and £50 for 3rd. £50 for male and female V40, V50 and V60 winners. 

All finishers receive a medal, t-shirt and goody bag. 

Then relax and refuel with food and drink at the event village and the Hyde Park Inn who are planning a BBQ and live music plus refreshments for runners and spectators.
