Final call for Derby Half Marathon & 5 Mile
Deadline for entries is today at 6 p.m.....
Entries close at 6pm today Thursday (25 November) for the Derby Half Marathon & 5 Mile, both of which take place this Sunday 28 November. There is still time to sign up but best be quick about it...
These two events are organised by Run For All and start at Iron Gate near to Derby Cathedral - right in the heart of the city, a busy area with a lively atmosphere. It is also the location for the finish so expect enthusiastic crowds who will clap and cheer loudly as you sprint over the line.
Race day kicks off on Sunday with the Asda Foundation Half Marathon (previously known as the Ramathon). This is a popular event which showcases the best of the city and notable landmarks such as Pride Park Stadium, Florence Nightingale Monument, Alvaston Park and Derby Cathedral.
There is a warm up at 8.55am followed by the start of the wheelchair race at 9.13am then the half marathon at 9.15am. Off from Iron Gate and around Derby on a fast and flat course, the second part going through Elvaston Castle Country Park and along the river before heading back into the city centre for the finish. Finishers receive a medal, tech t-shirt and a goody bag.
The Asda Foundation Derby 5 Mile is a new event that is designed for people not quite ready to run 13.1 miles but want to be part of a big city race and enjoy the experience. It starts at 9.30am and follows the same course as used in the half marathon, passing through the city centre in the first couple of miles. Then continues towards Pride Park Stadium and returns to the centre and the finish at Iron Gate. There is a medal, tech t-shirt and goody bag for every finisher.
