The Claygate Country Five is organised by the Claygate Flower & Village Show Society and has been a popular fixture in the Surrey running calendar since the 1980s. This well established 5 Mile multi terrain race welcomes runners of all ages and abilities, combining competitive racing with a relaxed community atmosphere.
The course starts and finishes at Claygate Recreation Ground before following footpaths through Claygate Common and Arbrook Common. Improved in 2023 to make greater use of the woodland trails, the route combines scenic countryside, woodland paths and moderate hills while maintaining a balanced mix of trail and road running.
The event features chip to chip timing, age category prizes and enthusiastic local support throughout the course. Friendly organisation, beautiful surroundings and its long standing place within the local community have made the Claygate Country Five one of Surrey's most popular summer multi terrain races.
