Church Stretton 10K

Double The Festival Fun

A beer festival just adds to the fun at this Shropshire running festival...

The Church Stretton Running Festival will return to the picturesque South Shropshire market town on Saturday, 8 June. Organisers say: "We are delighted to bring the festival back for a fourth year and build further on the success of previous years. Runners of all abilities can expect a challenging route with superb views of the Shropshire Hills and an experience to remember."

Church Stretton is nicknamed ‘Little Switzerland’ with its shops and houses nestled in a valley surrounded by the Shropshire Hills. Known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this locale is ready to play host to 1,000 pairs of feet this autumn in a race with a ‘feel good’ factor from organisers UK Adventure Challenges (UKAC) and with the support of the town council.

The festival includes a 10K race as well as a 5K and 50K Ultra. Organisers say: "Take on one of the most challenging and unique 10K road races in the country and be rewarded with some of the most spectacular views in the UK.
As anyone who 'Beat the Burway' in the last three years knows; whatever goes up must come down, and there is no better feeling than speeding down the Burway to the finish line in the town."

The 5K will return for the second time and will see runners raking on a route through the town and valley, with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and great support from the Church Stretton residents. The Ultra Marathon takes in spectacular views all the way from Shrewsbury to Church Stretton, with added trail sections included for 2024.

Besides the running there is a great atmosphere provided courtesy of the Church Stretton Beer Festival, which makes the finishing area of the race a really special affair. Toast your success after crossing the finish line with a pint whilst listening to some music and soaking in the great atmosphere.
