Chew Valley 10K Launch

Local pupil designs the medal and T-shirt for the Somerset race...

This year’s Chew Valley 10K commemorative T-shirt and medal have been designed by 13-year-old Rufus Keeton, a year 8 pupil at Chew Valley School. The race will take place on Sunday, 7th June 2026 at 9.30am, starting at Bishop Sutton Village Hall.

As a community fundraiser, all profits will be donated to Dorothy House Hospice Care in its 50th year, local schools in Chew Valley and Bishop Sutton, and Bloodbikes NICU Support, supporting premature babies throughout the South West.

Race Director Denise Mellersh said that Rufus’s eye-catching T-shirt design was a clear winner, as it highlights the challenging, countryside route of the Chew Valley 10K. The breathable, technical T-shirt, made from recycled plastic, is available for £12 when entering the event – click here to secure your race number.

Rufus is pictured above with (from left) joint sponsors Nicola Deacon, Brock and Houlford Expert Eyecare, and Justin Taylor, Winford Road Garages, alongside Chew Valley School’s Head of Product Design and Technology, Jo Ashman, at the 2026 event launch. Last year, 635 runners completed the Chew Valley 10K in just under two hours. Matthew Battensby (Bristol & West AC) led the way in 33:59. Caroline McAleese (39:29) won the women's race in 15th overall, as 150 beat 50 minutes for a 5min/km pace.

Over 300 runners have already entered the 10K. The Early Bird fee is just £26 (£24 for club members). Juniors aged 15-18 can enter for £15 (£13 for a club runner). The Chew Valley 10K is in its 14th year and is chip-timed. Entry includes a bespoke medal and a free kit store.

As well as prizes for the fastest male and female runners, there are awards for the winners in each age category from 15 years up to 80 years. Runners can also enter as a team of up to five members, with the fastest four times combined to score, and there's a prize for the best fancy-dressed team!
