Christmas Comes To Cheddleton
A Staffordshire Christmas classic returns at the end of the month...
The 41st Cheddleton 10K Christmas Pudding Race is all set for Saturday 30 November and with a 2 mile fun run on the cards as well, it makes for a great festive event that the whole family can enjoy as a kickstart to Christmas.
Starting in the picturesque village of Cheddleton within the Staffordshire Moorlands, this challenging 10K race takes runners through scenic countryside before returning to the village for a festive finish. Organisers say: "With three scenic, triangular laps of rural Cheddleton village, each 10K runner is given a generous helping of enthusiastic support before finishing with a flourish - urged on by the cheering crowd enticing runners over the line."
Of course, no Christmas Pudding Race would be complete without a delicious Christmas pud waiting for each runner at the finish line! Organisers continue: "Most will save these for Christmas, but feel free to have a nibble of yours with your tea or coffee. We couldn't have a Christmas Pudding race without them."
The goodies don't stop there – this year's 10K event boasts an extensive prize list, with prizes for the top finishers and course record bonuses for those who break the current records. Trophies will be awarded to the first male and female athletes, as well as age group prizes, ensuring that there is something for everyone to compete for. For the speedy runners amongst you, it is worth remembering that a gold sovereign is available for anybody who breaks the current course record!
So, whether you're an experienced runner looking to challenge yourself on a beautiful course or a beginner looking for a fun and festive event, the Cheddleton 10K is the perfect way to celebrate the season - with proceeds from the event going to Cancer Research UK.
