Chapelton of Elsick Medals

10K On Your Terms

North East virtual 10K returns with eco-friendly twist...

Organisers of the Chapelton of Elsick 10K have found a creative and sustainable way to round off the year with the launch of the Chapelton of Elsick Virtual 10K 2025. The event runs from today (5 November) to 31 December and gives participants the freedom to complete their 10K anywhere, anytime, while helping reduce waste by reusing leftover medals from this year’s summer race.

Runners taking part will each receive a bespoke Chapelton of Elsick 10K medal once they have completed their run and submitted their results online. One lucky participant will also win a free entry to the next in-person Chapelton of Elsick 10K, which takes place on 12 July 2026.

The virtual format allows runners to set their own route and pace, whether that’s around their local park, on a treadmill or along favourite trails. Organisers suggest including a few hills to match the challenge of the Chapelton 10K course, which features around 145 metres of ascent. Participants are also encouraged to share photos of themselves with their medals on social media once they complete the challenge.

Organisers say: "If you're new to running try breaking the distance into two 5K runs to make the experience more accessible and remember 100% of proceeds will go to local charities and community groups!"
