Lakeland Trails in Cartmel features 5K, 10K and 18K trail races starting and finishing at Cartmel Racecourse, with routes exploring the scenic countryside of the southern Lake District. The event combines varied off road running with panoramic views towards Morecambe Bay and the surrounding Lakeland peaks.
Runners follow waymarked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways over a mixture of hard packed trails, gravel tracks, muddy lanes and wetter sections. The courses feature fast runnable stretches alongside more challenging terrain, with the 18K distance available as both a Trail Challenge and Trail Race.
Cartmel Racecourse provides the event hub, with a lively festival atmosphere for runners and spectators. Live music, race commentary, food and drink add to the day, while the range of distances makes the event accessible to both newer trail runners and experienced competitors.
