The Perfect Autumn Trail
Enjoy autumnal delights and racing joy through Cannock Chase Forest this October...
Challenge yourself over a stunning trail course at this autumn's Cannock Chase Half Marathon & 10K on 20 October. Part of Nice Work's Forest Series, the race is set against the backdrop of stunning woodland at a time when the 'sunlight is golden and falls through the autumnal canopy in dappled pools on the trail'... who can resist that image?
Those taking part can choose to run a challenging Half Marathon or 10K distance both of which use the paths, trails and bridleways within Cannock Chase. The half marathon is a challenging two laps of the course whilst the 10K is a single lap.
Although it's a demanding course the races are open to runners of all abilities, from novices to experienced athletes and both are perfect for including in ongoing training schedules.
In 2023 over 400 runners took part across the two distances with David Hill of Badgers Running Club winning the half marathon in 1:22:22 and Kelly Butler taking the female title in 1:42:35. In the 10K race it was Rugeley Runner, Lee Gratton who won in 35:50 and Esther Hunt of Lichfield Running Club who was first female in 50:01.
Speaking about the Forest Series, Rachael Wood of Nice Work said: "We believe the enjoyment and benefits of running are greatly enhanced by the natural world. Being close to trees and ensconced by dense forests has the ability to heal and improve mental health.
"Our Forest Series allows our runners to plunge into fresh green environments that provide a vital connection to mother nature whilst running."
