Buzzing runners at the Caistor Sting 10K

Put a sting in your step at Caistor 10K

This popular race is back with a buzz and ready to celebrate its 10th outing.

Don’t worry, ‘bee’ happy as there are only four days to go to the Caistor Sting 10K and Mini Sting Fun Run on Sunday 17 July. Normal service is resumed which includes the warm up, start time and beer and sausage for every finisher who'll also receive a special anniversary vest.

The Brianplant ‘Sting in the Tail’ Caistor 10K is a popular and challenging race with a friendly atmosphere and this weekend organisers Caistor Running Club have two reasons to be cheerful. The first is the race’s post-pandemic return; the second is its 10th birthday to be commemorated by runners of all ages and abilities.

Fancy dress is an important aspect and there are prizes for the best male and female costume along with those for the top three men and women; age group winners, teams and Under 18’s.

The Mini Sting Fun Run for youngsters starts at 9am from Caistor Market Place and involves two laps of a 1K course. There are prizes for the winning boy and girl, spot prizes and a medal plus goody bag for all finishers.

At 10am it is the turn of the 10K which sees runners following an attractive course in and around the market town of Caistor. Mainly flat and fast for the first 7K then the ‘sting’ in the form of hills for the final 3K before finishing in the Market Place.

Who will be ‘King of the Sting’ for the final 2K segment of the race?

Note: there are three water stations along the route but the organisers recommend participants are fully hydrated beforehand in the light of the extreme heat warning issued by the Met Office for this weekend. There is more advice about preparing for these conditions on the Caistor Running Club website.

Have a safe and enjoyable race.
