Bridlington braced for Easter dash
It may be one of the smaller races on the circuit but the Bridlington 5 Mile Easter Dash certainly packs a punch and is a firm favourite for many northern runners. Tomorrow's (Friday 19 April) event is on course to be the biggest yet, with organisers Nice Work telling us that a record number of participants have already registered.
The race, which is roughly 5 miles, will see runners tackle the footpaths and trails within Sewerby Hall as well as on the cliff top. In store for Friday’s field are Easter eggs for all finishers plus a special bespoke Eater medal waiting at the finish line.
Liam Burke from Nice Work told runABC North: “We are looking forward to kicking off the 2019 Easter Tour for the 8th time this Friday at Bridlington. The Easter Eggs are primed and ready despite being sampled by a couple of the team; but we promise there will be some left over for the runners! We will have entries available for the main 5 mile race plus 1.5 mile fun run and children's dash available on the day."
Last year saw a 1-2 for Bridlington Road Runners as Phill Taylor (28:09) and Scott Hargreaves (28:55) battled it out. Scarborough AC’s Rhona Marshall was the top female competitor in 32:31, followed by Jane Halloran (32:59).
The race is organised by Nice Work, who are behind numerous races across the country. Entry for the 8th Bridlington Easter 5 Mile Dash is still open and priced at £17.70 (£15.60 for affiliated runners), while registration for the 1.5 Mile Fun Run is £7.40. Further information is available here.
