Runners Prepare To Battle This May
Take part in a race where both history and running collide...
Entries are now open for this year's Bosworth Half Marathon, with runners once again expected to battle it out for places in one of Leicestershire’s most popular races. Organised by Desford Striders RC, the event returns on 10 May and has built a reputation for selling out quickly, with demand high for the race, now in its 23rd year.
Starting and finishing at Bosworth Lakeside Lodges, the route takes runners on a scenic yet undulating journey through the countryside surrounding Market Bosworth.
Organisers say: "The course passes close to the site of the historic Battle of Bosworth, where in 1485 the fate of the English crown was decided. While the stakes may be a little lower this time around, runners can still expect their own personal battles on the course, particularly on the testing climbs that have become a hallmark of the event."
The race combines this sense of history with chip timing, free race photos and enthusiastic local support throughout. All finishers will receive a bespoke medal, along with the now customary post race banana that regular participants have come to expect.
The Bosworth Half continues to appeal to a wide range of runners, whether chasing a personal best, taking on the distance for the first time or simply enjoying a memorable day out in a historic setting. With Bosworth Lakeside Lodges providing plenty of on site facilities and space for supporters, the event promises to be another great springtime race option.
