Men's 10K Runners

This One's For The Guys!

Be a part of something special at this year's Mens 10K in Glasgow...

Two questions… Are you a runner that likes to encourage friends and family to get involved with your favourite hobby? Are you male? If you've answered yes, then now might be the time to use your influence and sign up yourself and a mate for an event that's main purpose is to encourage health and wellbeing in the lives of Scottish men - the Men's 10K.

Taking place in Glasgow on 19 June, the Men's 10K is a fun and proactive way to engage men in Scotland in healthy physical activity and to promote health and wellbeing all year round. It is now a major event on both the running and health calendars, attracting 4000 men and this number is growing each year.

The brainchild of the Men’s Health Forum Scotland, the first Men’s 10K was organised in Glasgow in 2004 as a focal point for raising awareness of men’s health issues. Consistently, each year, around 40% of the men taking part have never entered a running event before and organisers intentionally promote the event to men who are new to physical activity or have been inactive for a while.

The event continues to help thousands on their journey to becoming fitter, healthier and happier people, and is the perfect opportunity for men to make a difference to their own lives, or to someone else’s.

The Glasgow run starts off at the spectacular setting of the Riverside Transport Museum and heads along the River Clyde – taking in the city's scenic views and landmarks. Iconic buildings to look out for include the Glasgow Science Centre, The Armadillo, The SECC and the SSE Hydro and all within the first 2K. A few Clyde crossings later runners will head back towards George Square where cheering crowds await to help in one last effort to cross the finish line.

It is a popular event for good reason, with a great course and top quality support from all those mums, wives, girlfriends and daughters lining the route. Roy Frost commented on Facebook last year: "Totally loved my first ever Men's 10K this year, absolutely fantastic run and venue. Definitely signing up again for next year."

If the Glasgow date is just a little too soon then the Edinburgh event will be taking place later in the year on 23 October.
