The Battle of the Brampton Valley Way is a unique ultra distance event run along the traffic free Brampton Valley Way, offering a flat and fast 28 mile out and back course through the Northamptonshire countryside.
Runners choose their starting point from either Market Harborough or Northampton, representing their chosen side in a friendly but competitive challenge between Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. Participants start from both ends and meet along the route, adding a distinctive head to head element alongside the endurance challenge.
The route follows a hard packed trail with minimal elevation, making it an accessible step into ultra running while still providing a rewarding test over the distance. The course includes long railway tunnels, adding a memorable feature to the experience.
Runners benefit from regular aid stations, on course support, and a well organised setup, with a seven hour cut off in place. All finishers receive a medal, with prizes awarded to leading runners and race photos provided after the event.
This is a straightforward but cleverly designed ultra, combining a fast and runnable route with a unique competitive twist, making it ideal for those stepping up in distance or looking for something a little different.
