Babcock 10K Series

Babcock Bargain Up For Grabs

Early Bird prices available till the end of the year for popular 10K race series...

The popular Babcock 10K Series is set to return in 2026, once again offering runners the chance to compete across three well established events at Glasgow Green, Dumbarton and Helensburgh. Entries are now open and runners who sign up before 31 December can take advantage of early bird discounts on both series and individual races.

The series opens with the Shettleston 10K at Glasgow Green on Sunday 10 May. The second race takes place in Dumbarton on Thursday 21 May, with the final event of the series scheduled for Thursday 28 May in Helensburgh. The mix of a Sunday morning opener and midweek evening races has become a popular feature of the series.

Gateshead Harrier Calum Johnson is already confirmed to headline the 2026 line up. Johnson was recently selected for the Great Britain team at the European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa, Portugal and has represented GB at both European and World Cross Country Championships. Johnson is no stranger to success in the Babcock Series, having won on Glasgow Green and set a remarkable course record in Helensburgh earlier this year with a time of 29:10, the fastest recorded there in 43 years.

The Shettleston race will once again host the Scottish 10K Championships for both men and women. This year’s event produced one of the deepest fields seen in Scotland, with Omar Ahmed setting a Babcock Series record of 29:06 and Natasha Phillips running an outstanding 32:48 in the women’s race. Both athletes are expected to return in 2026.

More than £6,000 in cash prizes and Start Fitness vouchers will be on offer across the series, including awards for the first ten men and women, the top three teams and winners in the over 40, over 50 and over 60 categories. Every finisher will receive a commemorative medal and Start Fitness merchandise, while runners entering all three races will also receive a free More Mile technical t-shirt.

The early bird offer reduces the cost of a series entry by £5, bringing the price to £49 for affiliated runners and £55 for unaffiliated runners. The discount is available for a limited period or the first 500 entries and will close at midnight on 31 December. With almost 200 runners already signed up, organisers are encouraging those interested to secure their place sooner rather than later.
