The Athens Authentic Marathon follows the legendary route from the town of Marathon to Athens, retracing the journey that inspired one of the world's most famous running distances. The race begins at Marathon Municipal Stadium and finishes inside the historic Panathenaic Stadium, with 5K and 10K road races also taking place across the event weekend.
Runners take on approximately 42K of road running across Attica, with a demanding course that climbs through the middle stages before descending towards central Athens. The historic point to point route, challenging profile and stadium finish make this a distinctive marathon experience.
The 5K takes place on Saturday evening, while the 10K joins the Marathon programme on Sunday morning. All three distances finish inside the Panathenaic Stadium, bringing runners into the heart of Athens for one of the event's most distinctive features.
