Anglesey's Race Weekend Arrives
Runners will return to Anglesey this weekend for one of the UK's most scenic events...
This weekend will see runners head to North Wales for a race dubbed 'the most beautiful half marathon in the UK' as The Anglesey Half and 10K makes its return on Sunday.
There is in fact still time to sign up (just) with entries closing today at 12 noon! So, if you fancy a little trip to Wales this weekend, you better be quick!
Runners can expect an undulating yet quick course and, with a start on the iconic Menai Suspension Bridge and Snowdonia as a stunning backdrop, this race is truly one of a kind.
Another thing that sets this race apart from others on the race calendar is the non-traditional reward for completing the course. No medals here! Race organiser, Always Aim High Events will be implementing its new environmental initiatives with a spokesperson commenting: "We are proud to present our race finishers with a slate coaster to mark their achievement and provide a lasting memento of the event."
"The great thing about this uniquely Welsh race prize is that the coasters are sourced here and made from slate that would otherwise be waste. They can be used time and time again and even taken into work to 'subtly' show off your achievement! Not only that, the coaster is beautifully designed to mark the event."
Post race runners are in for a treat with two local food vendors providing artisan coffee, soft drinks and cake as well as plenty other delicious foodie offerings.
Someone who can't wait is Tricia Hirst who commented recently on Facebook: "A very well run event with fantastic scenery. See you in 2 weeks."
